Job Function
- Operations
- Timely plan site surveys as required. Follow drilling operations with operating companies, advise on evaluation requirements: logging and testing.
- Studies
- Identify the need for, and propose acquisition, (re-)processing of 2D and 3D seismic data. Follow processing with the Geophysical Team and contribute to optimise processing sequence. Carry out 2D and detailed 3D seismic interpretation integrating all available G&G data, advise on special post-processing to improve imaging, carry out time-depth conversion, use AVO technology to improve reservoir/fluid prediction. Calculate volumetrics and work with reservoir engineer and economists to propose production profiles, development scenarios and work out economics of project. Prepare ATD and Block Evaluation reports. Liasise with drilling departments to prepare operation section of ATDs. Participate in the review, assessment and valuation of new exploration or acquisition opportunities, either related or unrelated to Nigeria, as necessary.

- Mentor Jr. Seismologists from APS and operating companies or Government, represent the interests of the Exploration Dpt in discussions with Third Parties.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required
- MSc or higher in Geology/Geophysics.
- At least 15 years experience in exploration seismic interpretation, acreage and prospect evaluation, risk and uncertainty analysis and volumetric estimates, preferably with an operating oil company. The senior geophysicist should have a strong technical background complemented by a track record of commercial understanding and project management in the Exploration sector. Experience with oil and gas field exploration and appraisal in countries in West Africa and in particular in the Niger Delta will be considered an advantage.
- Hands on experience with detailed seismic interpretation in exploration, knowledge of seismic interpretation applications such as SMT-Kingdom, Geographix, mapping package such as Petrosys, volumetrics calculation softwares.
- Written and oral communication, presentation and reporting skills are also essential to ensure effective deployment and utilization of the Exploration Department deliverables
