Gabon License Areas
Onshore license areas
The Gabon onshore license areas form the bulk of our production and operations in Gabon. They cumulatively cover an area of 482,800 acres (1,954 km2) and consist of five license areas: Maghena, Panthere NZE, Awoun, Remboué and Epaemeno. These license areas contain four producing oil fields (Tsiengui, Obangue, Remboué and Tsiengui West), one oil field under development (Koula) and two undeveloped oil fields (Autour and Damier).
Tsiengui field (Maghena license area)
The Tsiengui field is Addax Petroleum’s principal onshore Gabon producing and development property. It was discovered in 2002 and started production in July 2005. The Maghena license area is approximately 100 km south-east of the coastal city of Port Gentil and covers a gross area of approximately 162,400 acres (657 km2). Addax Petroleum operates and holds a 92.5% interest in this license. Oil production from the Tsiengui field is processed and exported together with oil production from the Obangue field through a central production facility, which was commissioned by Addax Petroleum in November 2006. For more information about this production and export system, please check our press room.

Obangue field (Panthere NZE license area):
The Obangue field is Addax Petroleum’s second largest onshore Gabon producing property. It was discovered in 1988 and started production in 1998 at low levels. The Panthere NZE license is approximately 110 km southeast of the coastal city of Port Gentil and covers a gross area of approximately 29,700 acres (120 km2) and is immediately adjacent to the Maghena license area. Addax Petroleum operates and holds a 92.5% interest in this license. Oil production from the Obangue field is processed and exported together with oil production from the Tsiengui field through a central production facility, which was commissioned by Addax Petroleum in November 2006. For more information about this production and export system, please check our press room.

Autour field (Panthere NZE licence area):
The Autour field was discovered in 1987. One successful exploration and appraisal well was drilled in 2007 on the previously undeveloped onshore Autour field, which resulted in the addition of probable reserves from the field as at December 31, 2007. Please check the press room for further information about development in this field.

Kouala, Tsiengui West and Damier fields (Awoun license area):
Addax Petroleum holds a 40% interest in the Awoun license area, which is operated by Shell Gabon. The Awoun license area is approximately 80 km south-east of Port Gentil and covers a gross area of approximately 274,800 acres (1,112 km2). It is immediately adjacent to the Maghena license area. The Kouala and Damier fields were both discovered in 2004. The Koula field is presently under development with first production planned for 2009. The Damier field is undeveloped. The Tsiengui West field is an extension of the main Tsiengui field in the Maghena license area. For information about development of these fields, please check our press room.
Remboué field (Remboué license area):
The Remboué field is Addax Petroleum’s smallest onshore Gabon producing property. The field was discovered in 1991 and has been producing since 2001. The Remboué license area is located approximately 75 km south-east of the coastal city of Libreville and covers an area of approximately 32,200 acres (130 km2). Addax Petroleum operates and holds a 92% interest in the license area. There is a single train of processing facilities in the Remboué field and 25,000 bbl of tank storage. The Remboué export system is entirely marine with export loads shipped by barge from the field to an offshore storage vessel, and subsequently sold directly to international markets. There was no drilling activity at Remboué in 2007, and we plan to workover up to four wells at Remboué in 2008. For further information, please check our press room.
Epaemeno field (Epaemeno license area):
In April 2007, Addax Petroleum agreed to acquire a 50 per cent gross interest in this license. Government approval of the transaction was received in December 2007, which is subject to government consent. The Epaemeno license area is located immediately north of the Maghena and Awoun license areas and covers approximately 331,100 acres (1,340 km2). The Corporation also became the operator of the license area.
