Cultural diversity

As our international presence has grown, so has the diversity of cultures and backgrounds in our corporate community; our workforce represents more than 30 different nationalities.

Harmonious development and multicultural teamwork are key factors in attracting and retaining talent. We believe that embracing diversity increases value, creates a dynamic corporate culture, enhances staff loyalty and builds a better reputation in the marketplace.

For this reason, an innovative internal programme to ensure diversity and inclusion and encourage participation at all levels has been rolled out across the Company.

Our PEARL programme – People, Energy, Action, Results, and Leadership – was launched in 2011 to optimise both our cultural diversity and business culture. It is ongoing and designed to:

  • Enhance understanding of and respect for all cultures encompassed by the Company, including Western, African and Chinese.
  • Foster a participative approach to gathering crucial information about the Company and the key elements of its DNA and business culture.

The programme involves a series of cross-cultural training sessions to help participants navigate multicultural issues more effectively, understand individual cultures and develop a cohesive mind-set in their working environment. The content is balanced between theory, practical exercises and skills sharing to ensure a long-term impact. Workshops and conferences are held for employees from all backgrounds, positions and locations.
